K-Drama Reviews: 20 Years Old, The Greatest Love, Unemployed Romance

written on Sunday, 9 February 2014 @ 12:34 ♡

I have a lot on my plate.

Literally. I’ve been eating so much lately //sighs heavily
Also school is getting more and more tring every day which is why I haven’t been online that much these days. Sorry ~~

But I want to make up for it!! The past few weeks when I wasn’t studying, I’ve been watching some dramas which I am going to talk about now. I am not going to do the “full super long reviews” I usually do, though. I don’t really think that’s necessary.

Twenty Years Old/20’s ~ 스무살image

Okay. Guys. GUYS!! I stumbled across this drama by accident when I was watching something else on viki and ohMYGOD ITS LEE KI KWANG FROM BEAST!! Why didn’t anyone tell me about this drama????
So yeah,.. that was a nice surprise…

The story is about KiKwang who meets his childhood-friend Kim HyeRim again and then they start dating secretly. Of course trouble follows when people find out etc etc etc.

Overall 8/10
This drama was really enjoyable and I have to say I absolutely adored the camera work which was outstandingly well done, Chapeau!
Since this drama has only 4 episodes, there is no real climax or, let’s say, “dramatic highlight”, which is why it just reached 8 points on my scale. I would still say it’s a must watch for any drama-fan because

HIS LIPS!!!!!!!! I CAN’T //DYING WHALE NOISE MY THIRST IS REAL!!

The Greatest Love ~ 최고의 사랑

Gu Ae Jung used to be a popular member of a girl band but lost all her fame and even gets blamed after the band broke up. Coincidentally she meets top star Dok Ko Jin and yes, they fall in love. Of course there is a lot of drama; they don’t admit their feelings at first, love triangle, mean bitch who hates the female lead and so on, and so on.

Overall 8.5/10
Soooo good! I laughed SO much while watching this drama, I love it!! Definitely a must-see. I decided to watch it because I enjoyed seeing Gong HyoJin in Master’s Sun and just..BEST DECISION EVER!! I think the plot was not that creative but still very entertaining so go! Go and watch it!
And maybe that’s just me, but KoJin would be a perfect fit for Kogoro Mouri from Detective Conan, right? I’m just saying…

Unemployed Romance ~ 실업급여 로맨스
image

"Unemployed Romance" is about the reunion between Seung-Hee and her first love Jong-Dae. Seung-Hee, who dreams of being a star writer but is only a salary writer for a third-class program, and Jong-dae, a temporary public worker in the department of unemployment benefits. (credit)

Overall 6/10
This drama has 10 episodes and I have to admit I only went to see it because I am currently watching I Need Romance 3 and I am so in love with Nam GoongMin asfjkldsja

The story was a little slow and boring to be honest, but I did finish it so I guess it wasn’t that bad after all. To be fair, I should mention that it really had some super cute scenes in it and I also liked the development of the plot.

K-Drama Review: Playful Kiss

written on Saturday, 25 January 2014 @ 12:31 ♡

Rating 7.5/10

You know those books, at first after finishing, you are so excited and love everything about it, but then after some time you are like
wait a minute…

That’s basically how I felt about “Playful Kiss”.

It’s a very light and cute drama but doesn’t really have any character development. Also I think Ha Ni was too obsessed with Seung-Jo (he’s very very very attractive but a total shithead) and I can’t quite understand why he would choose her after she’s been following and creeping over him for about 4 years…

The plot itself was predictable and sometimes really unrealistic but I didn’t really mind that, to be honest. Another good thing about this drama was the humour. I laughed a lot while watching heheh

All in all I think if you are looking for something similar to “Heartstrings” you should definitely watch this drama. And also if you don’t want to watch one which will make you cry but rather feel good after finishing it.

K-Drama Review: The Master's Sun

Rating 10/10

THIS DRAMA MADE ME BELIEVE IN TRUE LOVE
And I am not kidding. This was one of the most entertaining and romantic drama’s I’ve seen so far.

I mean, yes, at first I was very sceptical about the whole “I-see-ghosts”-idea but it was surprisingly well made. Gong Shil always helps those ghosts to fulfill their last wishes, then they vanish to ‘the other side’. Most of the ghosts’ stories were really heartbreaking and made me sob like a little baby, others were rather scary and weird. This is what makes this drama so interesting, too, I think.

The romance between the two main characters is another super positive aspect of it. The last four episodes were heartbreaking and so beautiful, and they made me wanting to find my soulmate, too. Joong Won seriously destroyed my heart.. //sighs heavily

All in all I think “The Master’s Sun” is a must-watch for every romance and mystery fan. In contrast to many other dramas I’ve seen, this one also has great character development and there is just literally nothing bothering me about this drama and if you don’t go and see it, you are seriously missing out.

K-Drama Review: The Heirs/The Inheritors

written on Thursday, 2 January 2014 @ 07:18 ♡

Name The Heirs/The Inheritors (왕관을 쓰려는 자, 그 무게를 견뎌라 – 상속자들)
Genre Romance, youth, school, melodrama, comedy
Episodes 20
Airing? October 2013 - December 2013
Plot: The drama will be a mix in style between ‘Boys Over Flowers’ and ‘Gossip Girl’, with the plot centered around the love and friendship between wealthy high school students. (credit)
So basically, flower boy Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho) falls deeply in love with Cha Eun-Sang (Park Shin-Hye) and makes her fall for him, too. But trouble soon follows when his rival Choi Young-Do (Kim Woo Bin) also discovers his feelings for her and when Tan’s family finds out.
Rating 6.5/10

Such. A. Disappointment.
First of all, great cast. A drama filled with hot people. I mean, we have Kim Woo-Bin, of course, Lee Min Ho, Kan Min-hyuk, Kang Ha-Neul, Krystal, Park Shin-Hye etc etc etc. So eye-candy at its finest, indeed.

The problem is rather the plot. I feel like the directors of this drama tried too hard. They chose a bunch of popular actors and actresses and made a story filled with clichés in order to attract as many young people as possible.

The love triangles were incredibly frustrating and annoying just like the always occuring family drama, which was just ridiculous at times. The ending was extremely unstatisfying and abrupt, too, but I’m not going to into detail since I don’t want to give away anything for people who plan on watching it.

The bromance between those two was lacking as well. I expected more, to be honest.
If it wasn’t for my baby Kim Woo-Bin (HIS CHARACTER WAS BOMBBBBB), I would’ve quit after episode 5 probably. Or maybe not, I mean there were times when I really wanted to know what was going to happen next so yes, a round of applause for the cliff-hangers at the end of every episode, please.

All in all I think this drama had great potential, though, which wasn’t fully used unfortunately. You should only watch it if you are really fond of the already mentioned love triangles and overly romanticized scenes, or like me, love Kim Woo-Bin way too much.

I have fallen even more in love with Lee Jong-Suk. I know that he’s dating Kim Woo Bin shut up
I CAN’T. It’s over….My favourite drama (besides School 2013) is over……….. Yesterday I watched the last episode of I hear your Voice and I have to admit, no ending of any drama I’ve watched before pleased me more than this one.

I had a few doubts at first; a High School student who can read other people’s thoughts… riggghhttt. It didn’t stop me from watching the drama, though, since my love for Lee Jong Suk is so strong and real!! Anyways, it turned out that the mind-reading thing wasn’t irritating or bothering at all and actually really entertaining, because it did contribute to a lot of funny and romantic scenes.

Great character work.
I loved how unique every character was and in the end, I even felt pity for “the bad guy”, who I at first hated from the bottom of my heart. Worth mentioning is also what a great job the writers did in building up different relationships and destroying your heart in every possible way (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
//Be prepared for a lot of heartbreaking scenes!

All in all i think that I hear your voice is a drama definitely worth watching! It doensn’t only contain romantic or funny aspects, but also a lot of mystery and crime which was incredibly entertaining and nerve wracking, too! SO GO AND WATCH IT!!

I’M REALLY BAD AT MAKING REVIEWS I KNOW BUT I HOPE IT STILL HELPED

Name 학교 2013 / Hakgyo 2013 / School 2013
Genre School, Drama, Youth
Episodes 16
Airing? December 2012-Januar2013
Plot: School 2013 is a korean drama (2012-2013) about Seungri high, a troublesome school that houses students from the most eligible to the most problematic. ‘School 2013’ shows different life stories of teachers and students as they grow up through conflicts and compromises.
Rating 10/10

Probably the best korean drama I have ever seen.
The main character is Go Nam-Soon (right picture) who struggles a lot with school and as if that wasn’t enough, when his former best friend Park Heung-Soo transfers there, too, bad memories and a horrible guilty conscience come back to life.

I love this character. And therobromance between him and Park Heung-Soo also almost killed me. A+ !!! I don’t know how I survived the ending of this drama, I guess Fanfiction helped a lot although that small part of my heart that fell apart won’t ever be whole again I think…

What I also really enjoyed was how realistic everything was and for once, the focus of the story wasn’t on romance but friendship and real-life-problems etc etc etc. There is nothing I didn’t like about this drama. Sure, I wanted the bromance to turn into a gaymance but you can’t always get what you want, right? And besides, like already mentioned: there is always Fanfiction to statisfy your needs heheheheh.

My conclusion is that you should DEFINITELY go and see this drama because it will make every other one you have ever seen and will see look bad haha just kidding but no, seriously.. watch it!
