Name The Heirs/The Inheritors (왕관을 쓰려는 자, 그 무게를 견뎌라 – 상속자들)
Genre Romance, youth, school, melodrama, comedy
Episodes 20
Airing? October 2013 - December 2013
Plot: The drama will be a mix in style between ‘Boys Over Flowers’ and ‘Gossip Girl’, with the plot centered around the love and friendship between wealthy high school students. (credit)
So basically, flower boy Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho) falls deeply in love with Cha Eun-Sang (Park Shin-Hye) and makes her fall for him, too. But trouble soon follows when his rival Choi Young-Do (Kim Woo Bin) also discovers his feelings for her and when Tan’s family finds out.
Rating 6.5/10
Such. A. Disappointment.
First of all, great cast. A drama filled with hot people. I mean, we have Kim Woo-Bin, of course, Lee Min Ho, Kan Min-hyuk, Kang Ha-Neul, Krystal, Park Shin-Hye etc etc etc. So eye-candy at its finest, indeed.
The problem is rather the plot. I feel like the directors of this drama tried too hard. They chose a bunch of popular actors and actresses and made a story filled with clichés in order to attract as many young people as possible.
The love triangles were incredibly frustrating and annoying just like the always occuring family drama, which was just ridiculous at times. The ending was extremely unstatisfying and abrupt, too, but I’m not going to into detail since I don’t want to give away anything for people who plan on watching it.
The bromance between those two was lacking as well. I expected more, to be honest. If it wasn’t for my baby Kim Woo-Bin (HIS CHARACTER WAS BOMBBBBB), I would’ve quit after episode 5 probably. Or maybe not, I mean there were times when I really wanted to know what was going to happen next so yes, a round of applause for the cliff-hangers at the end of every episode, please.
All in all I think this drama had great potential, though, which wasn’t fully used unfortunately. You should only watch it if you are really fond of the already mentioned love triangles and overly romanticized scenes, or like me, love Kim Woo-Bin way too much.
